The Cordwainers’ Company is proud of its long history of supporting good causes through charitable giving.
The focus of this charitable giving is a number of organisations with whom we have long-established links. These are charities which we fund according to the wishes of our original benefactors, those related to our trade and those with which we have historic connections.
The 110 livery companies of the City of London are united by a commitment to philanthropic endeavour and together, they contribute £75 million to charitable good causes every year. The work of the 47,000 livery members who share their expertise and resources for the benefit of so many charities, is summarised in the latest report from the Pan Livery Steering Group.
Cordwainer members repeatedly and wholeheartedly embrace the Company’s ethos of ‘doing good and having fun’.
They support a wide range of fundraising activities which are fundamental to the Company’s philanthropic work. From jumping out of planes, to taking part in Tough Mudder obstacle courses, cycling from Cordoba to the City of London, to completing marathons and triathlons, swimming in the Serpentine to rowing the Thames, to the (slightly more sedate) sponsored walks, pub quizzes, carol singing and family days – Cordwainers always put their best foot forward in support of the Company’s good causes.
