We hope as many Cordwainers, family and friends as possible will join us on Sunday 14th June for the Cordwainer March along the River Thames.
We will be raising funds for Harry’s Giant Pledge, a pioneering research project at the Royal Marsden Hospital for childhood cancer.
Harry Shaw, the son of Past Warden James Shaw, lost his 10-month battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in June 2019. He was five, and a very tough and brave little boy.
The aim is to test cancer drugs that have been successfully trialled in adults so they can be used in paediatric treatment. The research will combine these drugs with radiotherapy for the first time to make the treatment much more effective. All money raised will fund a Royal Marsden research team to test this new treatment option and help the Harrys of the future. During chemotherapy Harry used to say ‘Let’s just get it done.’ So in honour of Harry ‘Let’s just get it done’ and raise money for this pioneering research.
Cordwainers will be setting off from the Walled Garden at Fulham Palace completing either a 3-mile or 10-mile route along the Thames Path.
