Worshipful Company of Cordwainers

Rowing for the Royal Marsden

Posted by: JHM Date: 28 Jul 2016

During 2016-17, the Cordwainers will be supporting the Master’s chosen charity, the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The Cordwainers have strong links with the Royal Marsden, because the founder, Dr. William Marsden was himself a Cordwainer and was Master of the Company in 1849

The Cordwainers have entered four teams into the Great River Race on 3 September. Teams row upriver (but the Master assures us, with a following tide) from Docklands to Richmond Bridge. The teams are:
·         Boat 1: Senior Service – captained by Past Master Mark Shaw
·         Boat 2: Booty McBootface – captained by Liveryman Ana Williams
·         Boat 3: The Booted Boaters – captained by Past Warden Jenny Furness
·         Boat 4: Pirates of the Cordwainers – captained by Freeman Ian Goff

With just over a month to go, training has begun in earnest.
