Shoes: Pleasure and Pain at the V&A
History has a strange way of repeating itself. Today, exactly 120 years since the opening of the celebrated Boot and Shoe Exhibition at Cordwainers Hall in 1895, we are thrilled to be attending the launch of the V&A’s new exhibition, Shoes: Pleasure and Pain, which is being supported by the Cordwainers Company.
Prince Arthur Cup 2015
The Prince Arthur Cup was presented to the Coachmakers’ Company in 1927. This large silver-gilt trophy was to be competed for annually by the Livery Companies of London in a foursomes’ golf tournament, played in recent years at Walton Heath.
Cordwainers at the V&A
The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers is delighted to be supporting a new exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum: Shoes – Pleasure and Pain will open on 13 June 2015.
New Freemen and Liverymen admitted to the Company
Three leading figures in the footwear industry have been admitted to the freedom of the Company, all of whom have worked closely with the Cordwainers over the past few years.
